The release of Superchick's newest album, "Rock What You Got," proves once again the band's ability to make each album unique without losing its style.

Supechick's first two albums, "Last One Picked" and "Karaoke Superstars," really pegged them as a spunky rock band with witty, upbeat messages. When their previous album came out ("Beauty From Pain") they grew in maturity leaps and bounds. With "Rock What You Got," the band seems to take a step back and reclaim their witty writing while still holding a great deal of depth within each song. They've definitely found a happy medium, making this arguably Superchick's best album yet.

The track title, and also the first song on the album, really sets the bar for the rest of the CD. I wasn't disappointed with what came after; every song on "Rock What You Got" has its own appeal, whether it's slow or fast. The slower songs, like "Breath" and "Crawl" show vulnerability in the lyrics that we can relate to, while still being filled with hope.

"Alive" and "One More" are powerful, motivational songs that send chills down the spine. "Hey Hey" "Rock What You Got" and "So Beautiful" give a loud shout out to "The one's who lost their rock and roll" and offers something to groove to. Throw a few more songs in there and you have a great CD for whatever you're in the mood for.

If there was one reason not to buy "Rock What You Got," it would be their use of repetition in some of the songs' choruses. After a while it gets ...well, repetitive. But that's a minor complaint that shouldn't affect the overall experience.

For those of you who've never heard of Superchick, the band has been considered by some as a clean alternative to the Black Eyed Peas, style wise. Though it's not a perfect comparison, chances are if you like the Black Eye Peas, you'll enjoy Superchick.

So if you're ready to "rock what you got" and are looking for some encouraging lyrics while bouncing to some great beats, Superchick should be in your CD library.
